Wednesday 26th December 2001 Brewers 3 Bradford Park Avenue 0
Boxing Day bonanza
The Brewers ended 2001 in winning fashion, completing the double over Bradford Park Avenue with a 3-0 victory over the Yorkshire side in front of 2,000+ fans at Eton Park on Boxing Day.

Player boss Nigel Clough got the ball rolling for the Brewers in the first half, scoring with a perfectly placed free-kick from outside the box. Christian Moore doubled the home lead in the second half after being set up by Sean Farrell, who looked suspiciously like offside.

Bradford were reduced to ten men when Michael Thompson was sent off for a second bookable offence, and the Brewers rubbed more salt in Avenue wounds when Steve Evans blasted home a third on the stroke of full time.

Saturday 22nd December 2001 Accrington Stanley 3 Brewers 3
Cloughie's last-gasp equaliser
The Brewers had a rare goal from player boss Nigel Clough to thank for earning them a point from their trip to third place Accrington Stanley. Albion had gone ahead with a beauty scored by Christian Moore on 10 minutes, but goals from Paul Mullin, Peter Cavanagh and Jonathon Smith seemed to have condemned the Brewers to their third defeat of the season.

However, Albion were handed a lifeline when, with ten minutes left, Smith pulled down Christian Moore in the box, and Jason Kavanagh converted from the penalty spot. With the seconds ticking away, and defeat looming, Clough struck home from the edge of the box to earn a result which in the end brought a massive sigh of relief from all Brewers fans.

Altrincham drew with Droylsden, while Lancaster's match was postponed, meaning the Brewers extend their lead at the top slightly to eight points, with the Dolly Blues having five games in hand.

Spoils shared in Alty clash
Eton Park's biggest crowd of the season - 1,712 - watched an absorbing contest between two of the league's title favourites.

Darren Stride headed the Brewers in front from Aaron Webster's free kick on 20 minutes, but Alty's best spell of the game early in the second half saw them equalize through Ian Craney.

The Brewers battled hard and created lots of chances, and had two penalty appeals turned down, but in the end had to settle for what was probably a deserved result, and a share of the points.

Lancaster's 4-1 win at Frickley saw them cut the Brewers' lead at the top to seven points.

Saturday 8th December 2001 Emley 3 Brewers 2
Two-nil up, three-two down
A last minute Jamie Robshaw goal was the culmination of a kamikaze performance from the Brewers at Belle Vue, where Emley added the Brewers to a list of scalps which already includes Altrincham, Lancaster and Barrow.

Everything seemd to be going according to plan when Aaron Webster converted from the penalty spot after eight minutes after Anderson was tripped in the box, and Anderson himself doubled the lead just short of the half hour, beating the offside trap to lift the ball over the home 'keeper.

But a minute later Emley were back in it after a fine shot on the turn from Miles Thorpe, and Rob Tonks slipped marker Terry Henshaw to level the scores five minutes before the break.

The Brewers showed little cutting edge in the second half, although Darren Stride should have scored when a free-kick fell to him unmarked on the far post, but Albion seemed to have done enough to gain a hard-earned point, until substitute Robshaw capitalized on more woeful defending to fire past Duke.

Lancaster's win over Worksop sees the Brewers' lead at the top cut to nine points, with title rivals Altrincham, smarting from their FA Cup exit to Darlington on Saturday, due to visit Eton Park in a crucial clash next week.

Brewers blast into Round Three
Albion cruised into the Third Round of the FA Trophy, with arguably the best performance of the season, to beat Barrow 5-0 at Eton Park. Christian Moore opened the scoring with just three minutes on the clock, and Farrell doubled the Brewers lead on 17 minutes, Aaron Webster the provider for both goals.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors when they had captain Mark Hume sent off for a second yellow card after a tussle with Christian Moore, and the Brewers took full advantage to hit three more goals past the hapless Bluebirds.

Sean Farrell headed in Nigel Clough's free-kick just before the break, Clough's long-range pass allowed Moore to fire home his second, and Farrell completed his hat-trick, and a 5-0 win, two minutes from time.

It was a vast improvement on Saturday's game at Holker Street, where Christian Moore's 77th minute goal cancelled out Steve Housham's opener for the Bluebirds.
