| What was the first Brewers match you attended, and what do you
remember about it? |
| Gravesend
1964-65. My dad took me, we missed the bus and arrived at about 3:30. Can't
remember the score withour refering to Rex's book |
| Which Brewers match left you feeling most elated? |
| 2-0
at Aldershot, FA Cup 1984-85 |
| And which left you feeling most disappointed? |
| A
0-4 home defeat by Waterlooville in 1991. It left us six points adrift at
the bottom of the DMPL looking like relegation certainties. Then Fidler was
sacked, Brian Kenning came in, brought in Darren Roberts (now of Tamworth)
and we finished eighth (less we should forget). |
| What's the best away ground you've visited, and why? |
| Altrincham,
friendly fans, great pitch, decent food |
| And the worst? |
| Winsford
United in the early 1970's. Gresley because we have never done well
there |
| Do you support any other team apart from the
Brewers? |
| No |
| Why do you support Burton Albion? |
| Because
it's my local club. I have an empathy with most other fans |
| Which team do you dislike most? |
| At
the moment Boston United, an obnoxious manager and overbearing, churlish
fans |
| What is your opinion on Derby County Football
Club? |
| I
don't care |
| If you could choose three ways the club could be improved, what
would they be? |
| 1
- Build a substantial covered terrace at the Car Park end |
| 2
- Think of something to silence the PopSide moaners. Every club has them
but our seem worse |
| 3
- Extend the stand to the Car Park corner to give an unobstructed view from
the seats |
| What single improvement would you make to Eton
Park? |
| As
above |
| What music should the Brewers run out to on
matchday? |
| Gonna
Fly Now from the Rocky Soundrack. Also, when we score a goal play "Don't
Stop" by 80's big-hair and spandex band FM. The chorus goes "Don't Stop,
don't stop, I'm loving every minute of it". |
| What colour should the away strip be? |
| Green
and White shirts, white shorts |
| If you won the National Lottery jackpot, would you donate
some of it to the Brewers?? |
| If
asked, yes. Ben and co are doing such a tremendous job, it would be unethical
business-wise, and downright rude to interfere |
| Your all time Brewers XI |
Potter
Lally, Wassall, Annable, Kamara
Stride, Fletcher, Clough, Glasser
Barker, Round |
| Fred
Potter was a giant behind the leakiest defence of all time. The midfield are
a blend of what is needed to win leagues at this level, skill and the ability
to win the physical battles. (and in the case of Phil and Fletch kill a few
people in the process) |
| Where, realistically, would you like to see the Brewers in five
years time? |
| Established
in the Conference, but as Nigel's dad once said "There's no limit to what
can be achieved with right directors, manager, players and fans" |
| Any further comments? |
| The
past three years have been almost beyond the Burton public's imagination.
If we were to win the league I think there would be an explosion of interest
within the local public. I wake up in the morning and have to pinch myself
to believe that it is really happening |
|
| What was the first Brewers match you attended, and what do you
remember about it? |
| January
1st 1994 v's Hednesford. remember nothing i was 2 |
| Which Brewers match left you feeling most elated? |
| Against
Gatshead, we won 5-1 |
| And which left you feeling most disappointed? |
| Going
to Lancaster and losing |
| What's the best away ground you've visited, and why? |
| Gateshead,
lots of seats |
| And the worst? |
| Rocester |
| Do you support any other team apart from the
Brewers? |
| Aston
Villa because they're the best |
| Why do you support Burton Albion? |
| Cos I
used to live there |
| Which team do you dislike most? |
| Arsenal |
| What is your opinion on Derby County Football
Club? |
| I
like to see them do well |
| If you could choose three ways the club could be improved, what
would they be? |
| 1
- Get a few Villa players |
| 2
- Another snack bar |
| 3
- Private tours of the ground |
| What single improvement would you make to Eton
Park? |
| Improve
terracing at car park end, or make that the away end at segregated
matches |
| What music should the Brewers run out to on
matchday? |
| Match
of the day music |
| What colour should the away strip be? |
| Green
|
| If you won the National Lottery jackpot, would you donate
some of it to the Brewers?? |
| Yes |
| Your all time Brewers XI |
Duke
Evans, Blount, Wall, Henshaw
Clough, Stride, Wassall
Anderson, Webster, Moore |
| The
current team is the best |
| Where, realistically, would you like to see the Brewers in five
years time? |
| Division
2 |
| Any further comments? |
| Keep
Nigel Clough at all costs |
|
| What was the first Brewers match you attended, and what do you
remember about it? |
| Season
1973/74. I'm not sure who the opponents were but I remember the passion of
the fans and standing in front of the club house |
| Which Brewers match left you feeling most elated? |
| In
recent memory, Runcorn this year |
| And which left you feeling most disappointed? |
| Arnold
about 20 years ago when we got knocked out of the FA. cup by a very poor
side in atrocious conditions |
| What's the best away ground you've visited, and why? |
| Morecambe,
always a good atmosphere |
| And the worst? |
| Runcorn
for its drabness and inappropriateness. The old Worksop for a few other
things |
| Do you support any other team apart from the
Brewers? |
| Living
in Lancashire I also go regular to Accrington Stanley, Great Harwood Town
and occasionally Morecambe and Manchester United |
| Why do you support Burton Albion? |
| Brought
up in Tutbury. Not possible really to explain why you support a team |
| Which team do you dislike most? |
| None
really |
| What is your opinion on Derby County Football
Club? |
| I
mildly dislike them |
| If you could choose three ways the club could be improved, what
would they be? |
| 1
- Improved terracing at Car Park end |
| 2
- Real Ale in clubhouse |
| 3
- Free entry for anyone born in 1956 |
| What single improvement would you make to Eton
Park? |
| Improved
terracing at car park end |
| What music should the Brewers run out to on
matchday? |
| 'Roll
out the Barrel' |
| What colour should the away strip be? |
| White
with gold and black trim |
| If you won the National Lottery jackpot, would you donate
some of it to the Brewers?? |
| Some,
but depends what they wanted to do with it |

10 in Conference |

|
| What was the first Brewers match you attended, and what do you
remember about it? |
I
started going in about 1982 but I can't really remember a lot about the
experience other than an awful lot of people in Ind Coope coats and my first
taste of the wonderful delicacy, Peas in a cup with mint sauce, fantastic!!
My first major memory was of the F.A. Cup match against Staines Town in 1984,
this was mainly because of the 'Dougie Newton Free-kick' which was an absolute
screamer, I think the ball's still travelling now, must be reaching pluto
by now |
| Which Brewers match left you feeling most elated? |
| The
two wins against Dartford in the trophy. From the first leg everybody got
on Peter Taylors back from the start and it was a great win for Albion. The
return leg was even better as taylor has belittled the team and its chances,
however Mr Bancrofts double put paid to that. Two fantastic results which
created an amazing atmosphere within the club and around the town |
| And which left you feeling most disappointed? |
| The
F.A. cup defeat at Bradford, 'so near and yet so far.' Of all the bloody
people to score, 'Ian Sodding Ormonroyd!!' The most uncomfortable man standing
on two legs i've ever seen! |
| What's the best away ground you've visited, and why? |
| In
the Non-League it would be Rushden for its facilities, but it had a terrible
atmosphere, I would also agree with the others regarding Boston |
| And the worst? |
| Gresley
Rovers, no explanation necessary |
| Do you support any other team apart from the
Brewers? |
| Manchester
City, I'm a sucker for punishment |
| Why do you support Burton Albion? |
| My
Grandfather took part in the vote at the Town Hall in 1950 to agree on the
clubs name and formation, he watched the team until the mid nineties, he
took me along when I was old enough |
| Which team do you dislike most? |
| Gresley
and Man Utd, there's a certain way to behave when you win all the time, the
club and their supporters have never done this. Obviously regarding Man
Utd |
| What is your opinion on Derby County Football
Club? |
| I
like to see them do well |
| If you could choose three ways the club could be improved, what
would they be? |
| 1
- A Bronze Statue outside Eton Park of Sam Brassington with Sheepskin Coat
and those mad hypnotic eyes! A legend |
| 2
- Mrs Billie Brewer or Bertha Brewer |
| 3
- Develop the ground, especially the car park end |
| What single improvement would you make to Eton
Park? |
| Long
term ground development, so the ground isn't always being added on to after
each season or hopefully, promotion |
| What music should the Brewers run out to on
matchday? |
| They
should go back in time and play 'Roll Out the Barrels' and bring back Nigel
Simms to lead the team out |
| What colour should the away strip be? |
| A
yellow and green effort in the same sleeveless style as those worn by Cameroon
in the African Nations Cup or if all else fails a yellow tank top |
| If you won the National Lottery jackpot, would you donate
some of it to the Brewers?? |
| Yes,
you'd get more satisfaction than wasting it on most other things |
| Your all time Brewers XI |
Goodwin
Pearson, Wassall, Blount, Kamara
Groves, Stride, Clough, Redfern
Cotterill, Whitehouse |
| There
are not really any particular positions here, they were are all picked on
merit. Anybody remember a decent left back? |
| Where, realistically, would you like to see the Brewers in five
years time? |
1 -
In the third division or continually challenging for promotion from the
conference, Of course still managed by Nigel Clough.
2- A nice
tidy ground with more seating and good facilities.
3- The
club being able to continually attract a decent crowd |
| Any further comments? |
Please,
Please, get up into that bloody conference!!
Free Peas in a cup every three attendances!! |
|
