   "The Yeltz"

Club who rose up from West Midlands League obscurity to become an established force in the Dr. Marten's League.  However, the 'Yeltz' look set to struggle this season after financial purse-tightening saw most of their best players (including 'strike sensation' Steve Piearce) sold to other clubs.

Ground has also changed beyond recognition over the past decade and is now one of the better ones in the league (if a bit exposed), and usually generates a good atmosphere. Club sold their soul for a fast buck and changed their colours from traditional blue and white to yellow and black and then all white, as part of a sponsorship deal with a local car company.

The pies are highly recommended, especially the Balti Chicken one, the heady aroma of which you may smell, wafting across the terraces at the Grove on a cold winter's afternoon.

Stuff to do:

Not a lot, apart from maybe drinking yourself into a stupor in the legendary Waggon & Horses pub on Stourbridge Road near the ground. or you could always check out the delights Brum has to offer.

Famous people?

-
On the air: BBC Radio WM (95.6 FM & 828/1458 MW) and Capital Gold (1152 MW) keep the sporting public of the Second City up to speed, but are so caught up with Villa and "the Blues" that you are unlikely to hear any news from Yeltzland. Capital Gold is worth a listen though for its mad commentators and even madder phone-in callers - ("Arooight Tom, I thought the Villa was rubbish today wunthey?")
On the net: Yeltzland

Directions:

Various roads lead to Halesowen but most of them see you reaching Junction 3 of the M5. From here follow the A456 (Kidderminster) down to the traffic lights (Hamer Ford garage on the right/Black Horse pub on the left). Carry on to the island and take the right turn onto the A459 (signposted Dudley) and the go to the next island, passing the new McDonalds restaurant on the right. At this island turn left onto the A458 (Stourbridge). At the next island take the left turn into Grammar School Lane, which quickly becomes Old Hawne Lane. 250 yards down this road is the social club and then just past this is the ground itself. If you are struggling to find the ground head for the town centre of Halesowen and you won’t be far off.
