| A
ramshackle, windswept ground bordered by a farmers field on
one side, a pitch only marginally less bumpy than the farmers
field, and home fans in danger of being outnumbered by horses in the
aforementioned field. It's fair to say that Rothwell is not the most glamorous
setting in the Dr. Marten's League. Risen from obscurity to overtake
traditionally more illustrious neighbours such as Corby Town (who can
almost be considered a glamour club by comparison), most people would
be happy to see the back of "the Bones".
You will probably
think "this can't be the right way" when driving up the residential
road to the ground, but if it seems to be going nowhere then you're
probably on the right track! When you do get there, ground is a small
main stand with flat, part-covered standing on remaining three
sides. And it's the kind of place where the officials get in a
flap if you dare to shout anything more than "Come on chaps - play
up!" |

as Kettering and Corby, interspersed with music. Also BBC
Northampton on 103.6 FM is mainly Cobblers
(Northampton Town that is), but has one featured non-league
match (usually Rushden or Kettering) and sometimes features the
Bones. |

Directions: |
Head for
Junction 19 of the M1 where the M1, M6
and A14 meet. Follow the A14 and turn off at the third exit,
signposted Market Harborough, Desborough, Rothwell.
(If you get as far as the McDonalds on the A14, youve gone too far
and will have to go through the garage forecourt, along by the unoccupied
house and take the road that goes under the A14 and then double back on
yourself). Follow the signs to Rothwell off the A14 until
you come to a T-Junction. Here you turn right into Harrington
Road, which soon becomes Fox Street.
At the next T-Junction (A6) turn
left, go over two zebra crossings and you will then come to the only
mini roundabout in Rothwell. Turn right here along the High
Street and take the third left into Tresham Street. (On
the corner will be a greengrocers who has his produce on display at the front
of his shop). As the road curves to the right at the top of Tresham Street
(having gone past the Fire Station) you bear left and emerge in the
car park of Rothwell Town.
