Nicknamed "The Lambs" and playing at "The Lamb Ground". Not sure where this connection comes from as the only lamb you're likely to find in Tamworth is in a kebab! Club who have enjoyed a rollercoaster history, the eighties were spent plumbing the depths of West Midlands League obscurity whilst reaching the heights of a Wembley final in the FA Vase. Finally promoted back to the Dr. Marten's League Premier Division at the start of the 97-98 season.

Not a bad ground, though could do with being bigger. Narrow covered terrace along one side (where the "hardcore" fans congregate), covered terrace also behind one goal, open terracing opposite, and a new main stand which has detracted slightly from the ground's "close" atmosphere. Decent crowds, but like their A5 neighbours Nuneaton, this is not the most welcoming of grounds, and "Tamuff" also have a yob element which has been known to crawl out of the woodwork for big matches. Another highly ambitious club (aren't they all nowadays?) - the board aims for Football League status by the year 2005.

Stuff to do:

The Snowdome - the UK's first indoor ski-slope (with "real" snow) is just across the road from the Lamb Ground. Tamworth Castle is the town's other major tourist attraction. And the Drayton Manor Theme Park is nearby.

Famous people?

Famous ex-residents of Tamworth include Offa (King of ancient Mercia), Sir Robert Peel (Prime Minister and founder of the Police Force) and Julian Cope (rock star , nutter and arch-druid).
On the air: Try the new station Centre FM on 101.6/102.4 FM for regular updates and occasional match commentary

Directions:

From the North, follow the A38 and then the A513 into the heart of Tamworth. If your'e coming from the South, Junction 10 of the M42 is your best bet. Once in the town, follow signs for the UCI Cinema. At the cinema turn left and then take the B5000 (Polesworth/Glascote). At the mini island under the railway arches turn right into Kettlebrook Road. The entrance to the car park is about 60 metres down the road on the right hand side.

If in doubt follow the signs for the Snowdome from the town, and as you approach the roundabout in front of it (and you can't miss it, it's huge) take the exit before the Snowdome exit. The ground is then on your left.
