Like Bath and Merthyr, Worcester is a "proper" old style football ground, with a "proper" big main stand with sloping roof, "proper" terracing all the way round, and "proper" floodlight pylons. You may have to visit St Georges Lane soon though to experience all this, as the club are planning to move to a new mega-stadium near the M5 in the millenium. An excellent view can be had from boats on the canal which flows past one end of the ground. Despite the new ground plans, Worcester have brought their present ground up to Conference standard.

Many pundits were tipping Worcester for the title at start of season, with legendary former Kidderminster manager Graham Allner at the helm. However, a disastorous start to the season means they'll almost certainly be staying put for another year (unless they get relegated!)

Stuff to do:

There's a Cathedral, various museums and the Racecourse if you fancy a flutter. See the Fidelis Worcester Guide for more info.

Famous people?

Edward Elgar, England's foremost composer, was born in Worcester.

Directions:

Leave the M5 at Junction 6. Then head for Worcester. At the first set of traffic lights (not the pelican crossing) go straight ahead and then take the third left. The ground is then on the left. It is in the Barbourne district of Worcester.
